Sandhamn

In the first few days that Caro is staying with me, she has the chance to meet my two daughters H&E for the first time. They are so grown up and the first evening together look as if it’s easy for them to manage. I can see Caro working hard to understand their English at times and get used to their quick chatting at the dinner table. On Saturday we all go to IKEA and do some shopping for stuff for my flat. It seems to work out quite well and we help prepare dinner together and then play a game of Yatzi afterwards. I think we have been able to clear this hurdle without any big problems.

On the Sunday morning, Caro and I set off for the trip I have planned to the archipelago off the coast of Stockholm. Caro looks great and excited to be getting away on my surprise trip. We take the car to Stavsnäs and then a ferry out to Sandön and Sandhamn, the island that we are to stay on. We’re lucky with the weather and the skys clear on this autumn day as the ferry stops at some small islands on the way. Sandhamn is very beautiful and we admire the view as the ferry docks in this cosy little harbour. We walk over to the hotel where I have booked our room for the night on this little island, dump our bags and take a walk in the sun. The island is small and mainly covered in woods, which are filled with all the Swedish treasures, such as lingonberry’s and mushrooms of every size and type. We reach the small beach at the end of the island and sit in the sun and just enjoy the beauty of this place and our own warm embraces.

When we get back to the hotel, we’re pleased with our room and the view of the harbour. We take advantage of everything the hotel has to offer…
the large indoor pool and hot tub, the restaurant, the room, the bed…

This was a fantastic weekend trip in every way…and one we will both surly remember for ever.
